전라남도는 5개 시와 17개 군, 총 22개 시군으로 구성되어 있으며, 이 가운데 영광군은 전라남도 서북부에 위치한 해안 군이며, 10여 개가 넘는 전남 군 단위 지자체 중 유일하게 상설 전시관이 없다.
그럼에도 작가들은 로컬을 중심으로 자신의 창작을 꾸준히 구축해왔다. 제도적 기반이 미약한 환경 속에서도 작업을 지속해온 이들에게 외부와의 연결 경험은 더욱 소중하다.
영광에서의 예술 실천은 오랫동안 내부 순환 구조에 머물러 있었다. 전시 기회가 적고, 관객층과 네트워크가 제한되는 상황에서 작업의 맥락은 자연스럽게 ‘지역 안의 관계’에 갇히기 쉽다.
부산에서 마주한 다층적 관람자들은 작품을 새로운 해석의 지형 위에 올려놓았고, 참여한 타 지역 작가들은 서로의 서사와 창작 방식을 교환하는 동료가 되었다. 이 과정에서 생겨난 네트워크는 전시 이후에도 이어질 협업과 타 도시 전시의 가능성을 만들어냈다. 이는 거대 기관의 수직적 초대가 아닌, 지역 간 대화를 통해 이룬 수평적 이동이라는 데 의의가 있을 것이다.
창작의 태도가 강한 하나의 로컬이 모든 기회를 꿰뚫을 것이라 믿는다.

South Jeolla Province consists of 22 cities and counties — 5 cities and 17 counties. Among them, Yeonggwang County is located along the northwestern coast of the province and is the only county-level municipality in the region with no permanent exhibition venue.
Even so, the artists have continued to build their own practices rooted in the local. In a context where institutional foundations are limited, opportunities to connect with the outside become all the more valuable.
For a long time, artistic practice in Yeonggwang has remained within an internal circulation system. With few exhibition opportunities and a narrow network of audiences, the context of each artwork has been naturally confined to relationships within the region.
Encountering multi-layered audiences in Busan placed their works within a new field of interpretation, and the participating artists from other areas became peers who exchanged narratives and methods of creation. The network formed through this process has opened pathways for collaboration and new exhibitions beyond the region. Its significance lies not in a vertical invitation from a large institution, but in a horizontal mobility achieved through open dialogue between localities.
We believe that a small yet determined local armed with a strong attitude toward creation can break through every opportunity that lies ahead.
