인생에는 수 많은 '눌린곰돌'이 있습니다.

저는 대학생 시절 캐릭터 디자인 수업 때 이 '눌린곰돌'을 만들었습니다.

힘들지만 미소를 짓고 있는 눌린곰돌은 축약적인 의미를 담고 있습니다.

세상의 무게에, 삶에 그리고 버거움에 짓눌린 그러나 미소를 잃지 않는 모습을 표현하였습니다.

어른이던 아이던 눌린곰돌을 보며 공감할 수 있기를 바랍니다.

기본 재료는 일기장 입니다. 일기장에 담긴 글들은 2019-2023년까지의 지나온 길을 담은 것입니다.

일기, 다이어리, 기록들과 함께. 한 장, 한 장 그 안에 담긴 눌린곰돌을 하나하나 모여야만 형체를 알 수 있는 비닐처럼. 때로는 전면으로 마주하고자 눌린곰돌 시리즈를 제작하였습니다.

Korea's first modern architecture displayed artistic qualities through innovative and distinctive designs. These buildings were mainly constructed during the Japanese colonial era (1910s to 1945) and the post-Korean War period. The artistic features of these buildings adhered to modernist architectural principles, emphasizing simplicity, geometric shapes, clean lines, and practical functionality. They successfully integrated practicality and aesthetic beauty, harmonizing unique design elements into the architecture. These pioneering structures had a significant impact on Korea's architectural development, playing a crucial role in shaping its modern identity and still holding a significant place in Korean architectural history and culture.

한국의 예술과 문화에 담긴 역사를 탐구하는 것은 중요한 일입니다.

범일가옥의 서사는 한국 예술계의 가장 큰 변동이 있었던 한국전쟁에서부터 시작합니다. 전국의 화단이 부산에 모여서 예술운동을 펼치던 부산항, 범일동에 위치하여, 한국의 민족적 정체성과 일상적 예술을 추구하는 간절한 소망이 맺혀있는 공간에서 기획이 시작됩니다.

장소의 서사성과 구별점은 작가에게 연구적 변주에 대한 기회를 제공니다. 일반적인 화이트 큐브가 아닌 전시를 통해 대중의 예술적 경험을 확장하고, 근대가옥, 일상 속 공간에서 대중이 예술과 더 깊이 연결될 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있습니다.

한국의 부산은 새로운 세상와 연결되는 관문이었다.

범일은 개항 이후 부산이 견인한 새로운 산업의 결정이 맺혀있다. 전시관이 위치한 범일, 부산진시장 일대는 섬유, 귀금속 등 근대 산업의 발원지로서 부산의 경제와 노동, 이주와 맞닿은 세상을 넓히는 공간이라는 장소적 맥락을 가지고 있다. 일제강점기 시절 '조선방직'이라는 방직공장이 있어서, 줄여서 '조방'이라 불렸다. 1968년을 끝으로 해체되었으며, 해체 당시 무려 8만 평이나 되는 큰 공장이었다. 매축지마을로 불리던 동네 인근에만 총 1만여 세대 가까운 고층 아파트 단지가 들어서면서 기존의 열악한 환경의 동네에서 초고층 아파트들이 모인 신흥 부촌으로 변화중인 동네로 현재와 과거의 한국의 모습을 동시에 관찰할 수 있는 지역적 특징을 가진다.
